Job Title: Mechanical Application Specialist


 Focus on new automated production equipment and projects. Provide technical support for the engineering department with the execution of change controls, FAT/SAT OQ/IQ protocols, and other related actions. Provides guidance and support to more junior level technical personnel.


                     1.   Technical support of new production equipment and lines both mechanically and electrically.


2.     Install and maintain PLC’s, Servo motors and drives, HMI’s robotic assembly equipment.

3.     Evaluate and optimize Preventative Maintenance (PM) activities as needed.

4.     Perform high level trouble shooting pertaining but not limited to, PLC, AC drives, pneumatics, servomotors, and Robotics.

5.     Design and build custom automation as requested.

6.     Responsible for all aspects of industrial robots including specifying, programming, trouble shooting, defining preventative maintenance, and training others.

7.     Investigates complaints from production and maintenance, determines root cause of issues, and recommends, designs, and implements corrective measures.

8.     Works with production and maintenance, quality, and safety to deliver optimized solutions.

9.     Uses computer assisted engineering and design software equipment to perform engineering tasks.

10.  Works with outside vendors and contractors as needed.

11.  Manage capital projects for new equipment, processes, and equipment upgrades.

12.  Inspects completed installations/ projects and conformance to design and equipment specifications in accordance with compliance with operational and safety standards.

13.  Work cooperatively with others. Provide a ” Customer Service” attitude when interacting with internal and external customers while accomplishing work, production, and achieving quality standards.

14.  Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

15.  Work overtime as assigned.

16.  Comply with all company policies and procedures.

17.  Practices good housekeeping has an awareness of safety as well as maintains a safe work environment. Uses safety guards and devices (includes PPE) and takes no shortcuts that defeat these safeguards.

Knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, computer, etc. equivalent of four years in high school, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 2 years related experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, public and other employees of the organization.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to prepare and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to utilize common sense understanding to conduct written, oral, or diagrammed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.

Under immediate supervision, performs general assignments of work, with periodic check of performance by supervisor.

Limited responsibility regarding specific assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work operations.

Moderate mental demand. Operations requiring almost continuous attention, but work is sufficiently repetitive that a habit cycle is formed; operations requiring intermittent directed thinking to determine or select materials, equipment, or operations where the employee may select variable sequences.

Regular use of complex machines and equipment (desktop/laptop computer and software, road and production machines and equipment, etc.)

Probable errors of internal scope should ordinarily be detected within the department or office in which they occur but may affect the work of others within the unit, requiring additional expenditure of time to trace errors and make all necessary corrections. Errors would require a moderate amount of time to correct.
