Job Title: Set-up/Utility Mold Tech

Set-up and removal of molds from injection molding presses. Responsibilities include proper equipment set-up in accordance with production schedule and written procedures. Establishes and optimizes molding setup and operation to yield consistent qualified injection molding production to standard.

  1. Organizes work for smooth operations of set-up and remove molds from injection molding machines.
  2. Responsible for ergonomic set up and use of all secondary equipment, such as sonic welders, conveyor belts, thremolators, drill presses, gate cutters and various other tools and equipment pertinent to job.
  3. Demonstrates ability to start up and optimize process of injection molding machine. Performs preliminary troubleshooting of processes as directed by shift supervisor or mold technician.
  4. Analyzes mechanical and operational problems, plans for, and takes corrective action.
  5. Works with Process Engineer, Mold Technicians and Shift Supervisor to correct difficult processing problems and pursues continuous improvement of mold and processing systems.
  6. Maintains a thorough understanding of all equipment. Advises of need for repairs to tooling and equipment.
  7. Maintain working knowledge of Material Handler’s responsibilities and duties to provide back up when required. Assist Material Handler in the handling, drying, and verifying of different types of resins.
  8. Maintain mold storage areas and mold identification.
  9. Able to safely operate overhead cranes and report any maintenance or safety issues to proper personnel.
  10. Performs operations in a safe manner to guard against accidents. Practices Lock out / tag out procedures.
  11. Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe work environment. Includes cleaning of molding presses.
  12. Responsible for maintenance checks on lift trucks and notifies proper personnel when repairs and maintenance are necessary.
  13. Work cooperatively with other departments to provide a  “Customer Service” attitude when interacting with internal and external customers while accomplishing work, production and achieving quality standards.
  14. Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  15. Work overtime as assigned.
  16. Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  17. Practices good housekeeping has an awareness of safety as well as maintains a safe work environment. Uses safety guards and devices (includes PPE) and takes no short cuts that defeat these safety guards.
  18. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Equivalent to four years high school, with particular emphasis during high school in office skills, shop skills, or others, plus 7 to 11 months related experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to understand rate, ratio, and percentages.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, continuously lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
