Job TitleMachine Operator

 Job Summary

Performs a variety of specialized functions from tending a molding machine to finishing and assembly operations. Supports the work cell in the efficient operation of injection molding machinery and precision operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Will rotate and tend to a molding machine as assigned, while monitoring their performance and the machine’s performance to standard.

Provides production support and helps train new and less experienced operators. Supports operator breaks as necessary.

Provides support to our quality lab by individually inspecting each part made at the press. Passes only those parts that meet or exceed the first shot standard.

Utilizes hand tools, small power tools and other specialized equipment to perform assigned job to standard rate requirement while maintaining quality standards.

May be required to remove some parts by hand from mold, and maintain consistent rate.

Practices good housekeeping, has an awareness of safety and maintains a safe working environment.

Maintains the stocking of the equipment to perform the job assigned, including making boxes and grinding runners.

Able to monitor machinery and alerts supervisor when process is moving out of control and adjustments or maintenance may be necessary.

Uses safety guards and devices and takes no short cuts that defeat these safeguards.

Completes operator check sheets and scrap cards.

Reassembles or reworks parts as required.


High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to understand rate, ratio, and percentages.
