Job Title: Material Handler

Set-up and removal of raw materials, packaging and finished goods from the production floor.

  1. Responsible for the handling, drying, weighing, and loading of different types of plastic resins according to documented procedures.
  2. Performs material test such as testing of resin for moisture content.
  3. Responsible or accurately tracking of all FIFO / lot numbers.
  4. Monitor the usage of plastic resins to maintain material flow and uninterrupted product production.
  5. Use scanners to properly move/remove materials and other items to and from production floor.
  6. Maintains safety and housekeeping of the production and staging area as well as equipment which includes the cleaning of hoppers, dryers and other material handling equipment, and the removal of trash from the production floor.
  7. Notifies maintenance via proper work order when repairs and preventative maintenance are needed.
  8. Performs maintenance checks on applicable handling equipment and notifies maintenance are necessary.
  9. Assist in the ergonomic set-up and use of all secondary equipment such as sonic welders, thermolators, dryers, drill presses, various types of gate cutters etc.
  10. Moves and documents the movement of finished goods to designated areas in the facility: this includes the banding and stretch wrapping of finished goods on skids before moving them to the warehouse or other designated areas.
  11. Uses computer to properly locate, place and trace materials as well as packaging.
  12. Works cooperatively with other departments to provide a ” customer service” attitude when interacting with internal and external customers while accomplishing work, production and achieving quality standards.
  13. Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  14. Work overtime as assigned.
  15. Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  16. Practices good housekeeping has an awareness of safety as well as maintains a safe work environment. Uses safety guards and devices (includes PPE) and takes no short cuts that defeat these safeguards.
  17. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to understand rate, ratio, and percentages.
